The Spanish Institute of Honduras was originially established to serve missionaries to Honduras in their Spanish development.
Over the years, the school has grown drastically to serve people in almost 20 countries and hundreds of students a year!
We welcome all who would like to learn Spanish, whether in person or online.
Siguatepeque, the city where our school is located, is between San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa (two hours in either direction). There are numerous tourist destinations within 3 hours of the school.
"Sigua" (see-gwa) is a small city or a big town, depending on how you look at it. We have quality grocery stores, many coffee shops and restaurants, parks, and more. Because of it's small-town feel, Sigua is very safe.
Our school has a very relaxed feel, and many of our classes are held outside. The environment is very comfortable and makes you go even more into becoming family with the teachers and students!

"World Gospel Outreach (WGO) has been using the Spanish Institute for more than 7 years now. The caliber of language training our missionaries receive has better allowed them to adapt and live well in Honduras. In some of our missionary's cases, The Institute has been able to house them in an inclusion scenario that better prepares them for their life in Honduras. Having personalized attention from an organizational position has assured the safety, knowledge, and experience that our missionaries will gain while participating with the Spanish Institute of Honduras."
Mac Youngblood, Director of Human Resources at World Gospel Outreach
"This is a fantastic school with a wonderful staff! It is very well organized and effectively managed by the Wolfe family. The teachers are all terrific and become not only instructors but dear friends as well. The one-on-one, teacher to student system is the best way to learn a language. I would recommend this school to anyone desiring to learn Spanish. Do not go anywhere else!"
Anthony Miele, Missionary Doctor
I try not to throw around recommendations lightly. Recommendations lose their strength if they are not sincere or earned. This school has my respect. I sincerely hope that Mission Board Leaders will not send their missionary candidates blindly to an institution for language learning because it is what they heard everyone else in their association is doing. I hope they are keenly aware of the philosophy of education is being taught at the school. At the SIH, the 1 on 1 approach to learning is UNMATCHED. I have been in 4 different arenas of Spanish Education and this BY FAR has exceeded my expectations. I will not belittle another school to make this school look better because it is not needed. The school can hold its own in every area of equipping students in the Spanish Language. I have two regrets: I wish I had found them sooner. & I wish had more time there.
The motto is: “Come as Friends and Leave as Family” and I would have to say…Mission Accomplished.
Adrian Burden, Evangelist
"The Spanish Institute of Honduras is the perfect place to learn Spanish. Attending classes is both a challenge and a blessing. The staff, teachers and fellow students are welcoming and helpful and make the transition to a new culture a pleasant experience. We came knowing only a few words and phrases in Spanish and the teachers have patiently taught us much more. Having classes with one-on-one teaching has allowed us to progress at our own pace with no pressure and lots of encouragement. The staff are available to answer questions and assist with many of the "unknowns" of living in a different place. We feel learning the language is an essential part of working in and experiencing a Spanish speaking country and there is no better place to learn than in the country with Spanish speaking teachers whose hearts are to help you learn so you can spread the good news of Christ or successfully accomplish whatever your goal may be."
